Rooms

Privacy. Peace and quiet. How rare they are nowadays! Discover them anew at Shirakaba, a country guest house designed as a restful retreat for its guests. Reserve a welcome by calling us at (413) 458-1800, or emailing us at berkshires.shirakaba@gmail.com. A check for your first night's lodging, received at least 14 days in advance, will hold your reservation until we welcome you to the soothing privacy of your ground-floor room. This is not a bustling resort; there are only two parties at a time, or bring friends for total privacy. The 21 acre compound can be exclusively yours for $1200 per day sleeps 8.

Each has a mini–fridge and microwave, and an array of treats – Japanese snacks, popcorn, water bottles for each guest, and assorted teas, with a Japanese electric hot water pot for steeping your favorites in a mug. Each also has an iPod charger with clock radio — and when it wakes you, you'll love the gourmet breakfast you chose from Japanese and American menus the night before.

And yet, each is unique. Which will you choose?

Need more space? Ask about Ume No Ma, the Plum Room. It's a tatami mat room upstairs that can accommodate extra guests who come with you. It offers a private lavatory, but they'll share the showers with the downstairs rooms. Need anything? Just ask.

And now we ask: When may we welcome you?
