General Policies

• Deposit: A deposit of one night's lodging, by personal or bank check, will hold your reservation.
• Payment: We accept cash and checks. We also welcome Berkshares, that colorful local currency you may have read about in TIME, July 13, '09. They're an instant bargain; you get $100 in Berkshares for only $95, and you spend them like money at more than 400 establishments throughout the Berkshires. We're proud to be one of them!
• Room rates: Room rates are based on a 2-night stay for "Take No Ma" and "Matsu No Ma Suite". There is an extra guests charge of $10 per person for additional guests staying in the "Take No Ma" room. If you can stay with us only one night, there's a housekeeping fee of $20.
• Cancellation: To cancel a reservation, please phone us at (413) 458-1800 at least 14 days before the arrival time, and your full deposit will be returned to you. If less than 14 days, we will try to re-book your room, and if we can, a partial refund may be offered to you, but a cancellation fee of $25 will apply. If we can't re-book the room, please understand that your deposit will not be refunded.
• Check-in/Check out: Check-in time is 3 p.m.; we need until then to make sure that everything is perfect for your visit. And if you must leave, checkout time is 11 a.m.
• Smoking: Shirakaba is proud to be a smoke-free haven. Guests respect and appreciate our strict rule against smoking in the guest house or on the deck.
